  • IMSHIA SETS TO TRAIN BHCPF IMPLEMENTING PRIMARY & SECONDARY FACILITIES ON LIFE-SAVING SKILLS

The Staff and Management of Imo State Health Insurance Agency under the leadership of Dr Uchenna Ewelike have shown their commitment towards ensuring the quality of healthcare services delivered to Imo people through the Health Insurance Policy of Gov. Hope Uzodimma is improved by organising a two-day training for the primary and secondary healthcare facilities implementing BHCPF across the 305 INEC wards in the 27 LGA of Imo State.

The event titled “Training of BHCPF implementing PHC OICs and Secondary facilities on life-saving skills for pregnant women, Children under 5, and the elderlies”, is billed to be held between the 3rd and 4th of October 2023 at Foret event centre beside Priceless stores by Concord junction, Owerri.

The high-powered training workshop packaged by the Chief Executive Officer of Imo State Health Insurance Agency is set to redefine and change the narrative of the Imo health industry and further ensure that the capacity of the implementors of the program is built on essential lifesaving skills for enhanced and improved BHCPF implementation across the 305 INEC wards of Imo State.

It is to be noted that the Imo State Health Insurance Agency with the support of the Imo State Government has enrolled 66,003 vulnerable Imo population in BHCPF enrollment 1.0 and the 18,923 in enrollment 2.0 are currently being onboarded to commence access to care from October 1st. The over 84,000 poor and vulnerable Imolites enrolled on the scheme are being rendered primary health care firstly by the primary healthcare OICs and secondly on a referral basis, by secondary healthcare providers for interventions.

It is against this backdrop that the Chief Executive Officer of IMSHIA, Dr. Uchenna Ewelike deemed it wise to build the capacity of the PHC OICs and SHCF on life-saving skills which would translate to more effectiveness and improved value for money for Ndi-Imo in the implementation of the program and an indication of the impacts of the social health insurance scheme in strengthening the health system for the attainment of Universal health coverage in Imo which is at the front burner of the 3R Administration of His Excellency, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State.
