  • IMSHIA and HHMC Strengthen Synergy as Commissioner for Health Oversees Strategic Transition of Enrollees to State-Managed Hospitals

In a decisive move to actualize Governor Hope Uzodimma’s innovative mandate to ensure a quality healthcare delivery in the State, a high-level strategic session was held to streamline the management and transfer of Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) enrollees to the Heartland Hospital Management Corporation (HHMC).

The meeting, presided over by the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu, focused on bridging the gap between insurance coverage and actual service delivery by integrating the state’s insurance regulator with its public hospital management body.

The initiative aims to reposition government-owned facilities to better meet the needs of residents, ensuring that those currently in private facilities can transition to a robust and efficient public system.
At the symbolic presentation of enrollees data, Prof. Uchenna Ewelike, the Executive Secretary/CEO of IMSHIA, emphasized that quality is the backbone of the scheme, as he noted that the new synergy has to ensure prioritized, seamless care for all enrollees.
The renowned Health Economist admonished the strong political will of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, towards providing and delivering affordable and quality healthcare services to Ndi-Imo through the Imo State Health Insurance Agency.

While responding, Dr. Emmanuel Ogueri, CEO of HHMC, reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to consolidating health gains. By aligning management staff from both IMSHIA and HHMC, the state is creating a unified front to eliminate barriers to medical care.
