The National Union of Market Traders Employers of Nigeria (NUMTEN), Imo State Chapter, has expressed readiness to partner with the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) to provide affordable healthcare coverage for its members through the ImoCare Health Insurance Program.
The partnership seeks to extend health insurance benefits to market traders across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
During a courtesy visit to the IMSHIA headquarters in Owerri, NUMTEN Chairman, Comrade Collins Madufor, commended the Agency for its effective implementation of health insurance in Imo State.
“We are impressed with the level of dedication and commitment the Agency has shown in ensuring that Imo residents have access to quality healthcare services,” Comrade Madufor said.
He reaffirmed NUMTEN’s commitment to collaborate with IMSHIA in keying into the health insurance initiative of His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Hope Uzodimma, adding that only a healthy trader can be productive in the market.
In his response, the Executive Secretary of IMSHIA, Dr. Uchenna Ewelike, applauded NUMTEN’s proactive step toward improving the welfare of market traders and reiterated the Agency’s commitment to inclusive healthcare coverage for all residents, particularly those in the informal sector.
Dr. Ewelike noted that Governor Uzodimma’s vision is for every Imo citizen to have access to quality and affordable healthcare, describing the partnership with NUMTEN to be in line with the efforts of the State Government to deliver good governance at the grassroots level.
