The ImoCare Health Insurance Program has received a significant boost and nationwide breakthrough through a philanthropic intervention by Mr. Seyi Tinubu and the City Boy Movement, who have fully funded the enrollment of 500 vulnerable pregnant women into the state’s health insurance program.
The ImoCare program will provide the 500 beneficiaries with a full year of essential services, including antenatal care, normal delivery, and Cesarean Sections (CS) at zero cost to the mothers.
This intervention directly supports the goals discussed at the BHCPF 2026 Quarter One State Oversight Committee Meeting and is critical for maintaining the state’s zero maternal death record among insurance enrollees.
The Executive Secretary of the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA), Prof. Uchenna Ewelike, lauded the “City Boy Movement” for their trust in Governor Hope Uzodimma’s healthcare system. He emphasized that the Agency has already commenced the registration of these 500 women across the 305 ward-level Primary Health Care (PHC) centers.
To ensure transparency, Prof. Ewelike emphasized that the enrollment is strictly for those who are verified as vulnerable and pregnant, while encouraging vulnerable pregnant women in Imo State to visit the IMSHIA office or any of the 305 implementing PHCs in their respective wards in the coming days to indicate interest and complete their registration.
