The Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) has commenced a strategic partnership with the Imo State Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to facilitate the enrollment of school pupils into the ongoing ImoCare Health Insurance Program.

During a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education by the Executive Secretary of Imo State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Uchenna Ewelike, ahead of the activation of the second phase of the enrollment of 2.7 million of Imo residents into ImoCare Health Insurance program.

Dr Ewelike underscored the critical role of the collaboration between the Imo State Health Insurance Agency and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in extending quality health coverage to pupils in both public and private schools across the state.

Dr. Ewelike emphasized that this initiative aligns with the mandate and vision of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Dr. Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all residents.

Recall that the Governor had previously issued a landmark directive for the enrollment of 2.7 million Imo residents into the ImoCare scheme.

In his response, the Honourable Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Prof. B. T. O. Ikegwuonwu expressed full support for the initiative while giving his official approval for the enrollment of pupils into the scheme.

Prof Ikegwuonwu described the health insurance scheme as a key step toward ensuring the wellbeing of every child in Imo State and underscores Governor’s commitment to education and the welfare of every Imo child.
