The Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) has launched an intensive 7-day residential capacity-building training on quality assurance and healthcare service improvement for its staff, as part of efforts to strengthen the delivery of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Health Insurance Program.
The training, which is taking place at Immaculate Hotels, Owerri, brings together key resource persons from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to equip IMSHIA staff with advanced skills and frameworks for healthcare quality management and improvement IMSHIA enrollees.
Declaring the program open, the Executive Secretary/CEO of IMSHIA, Dr. Uchenna Ewelike, Ph.D, emphasized that quality assurance remains a fundamental pillar for sustaining public trust and ensuring effective health insurance service delivery across Imo State.
Dr Ewelike stated that quality is the backbone of health insurance implementation as he noted the Agency’s goal is to continue strengthening confidence among Imo residents in the Governor Hope Uzodimma’s health insurance programme.
He also noted that every staff member not just the quality assurance officers has a strategic role in ensuring excellence, accountability, and service efficiency for IMSHIA enrollees.
According to Dr. Ewelike, the knowledge acquired through the training will enhance staff competence, improve system efficiency, and drive better health outcomes for the people of Imo State.
“This is a competitive era where knowledge is the new oil.
“We must approach this training with seriousness, skill, and commitment. Our service to the people of Imo State must reflect excellence and professionalism.” He said.
He commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for prioritizing healthcare reforms and reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to deliver affordable, reliable, and quality health insurance services to all residents.
The Executive Secretary concluded by urging participants to translate the training into measurable improvements in service delivery, wishing them a productive and impactful learning experience.
The week-long exercise will cover core elements of quality assurance in health insurance, include but not limited to claims processing, customer Service excellence, regulatory compliance, data management & analytics and continuous process improvement.
